Description
As commodities move from manufacturers to the end-users, they pass through the hands of many supply chain managers and shippers: from global freight to then passing country borders and customs, to in-country logistics networks and finally, to the last mile at the health facility and beyond. In supply chain management in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), there are unique challenges in the flow of commodities such as lack of infrastructure, limited skilled workforce, among others. There are also challenges in the flow of logistics and financial data such as lack or limited digital technologies to provide near real time data visibility which slow down actions within the supply chain, limited level of granularity for decision making due to data consolidation, and higher probability of error due to the use of paper-based records, generating weak data quality and accuracy. The purpose of this webinar is to discuss the challenges in the flow of logistics and financial data within health supply chains in LMICs and present a mix of simple and innovative solutions that allow improving the efficiency and effectiveness of supply chains, while achieving better health outcomes for all.
