Author Bio

Javier Amaya is an Assistant Professor of Technology and Operations Management at University College Dublin and a research affiliate at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.


His research focuses on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) in organizational contexts where expertise is crucial, emphasizing effective collaborations between human experts and AI systems. He is particularly interested in fostering innovation through the safe and effective adoption of AI. He co-developed an ethics-based audit protocol for conformity assessment with colleagues at Oxford. His work has received multiple accolades, including the EurOMA’s Harry Boer Best Student Paper Award, the Saïd Foundation Best Management Student Paper Award, and the Academy of Management Best Paper Award Runner-up.


At University College Dublin, Javier teaches courses in business analytics, operations management, and sustainable supply chain management. Before joining UCD, he earned his doctoral degree from Oxford and gained valuable experience in consulting.
